  • You consider faith a crucial component of your life but feel apprehensive about how it wields as a tool to foster shame.
  • You were uncertain about how to lead a fulfilling life that harmonizes faith with your gender or sexuality.
  • A church leader, family member, or close friend has repeatedly told you that your attraction to or identification with a certain gender is leading you away from God.

“However you found your way here, I’m genuinely glad you’ve arrived. It would be an honor to walk alongside you as you navigate the intersection of your faith and sexuality.”

You hide who you truly are from people: family, church, friends — you don’t feel safe being you around others.

You might have navigated the complexities by openly sharing your faith identity within your church community while keeping certain aspects of your gender or sexuality concealed. Alternatively, you may find support for your gender and sexuality from LGBTQ affirming friends and community, yet feel the need to hide elements of your faith in those circles. This struggle can lead to a fragmented sense of identity as a Christian LGBTQ person.

Alternatively, you may have coped by compartmentalizing a significant part of your identity to maintain connections with your community. Unfortunately, this discreet approach may contribute to internalized negativity towards the concealed aspects of yourself.

If you find yourself in any of these situations, what you truly need is a space that not only accepts but also celebrates all facets of your identity. You need someone who listens to and understands LGBTQ issues. Engaging in LGTBQ counseling with Worthy Counseling Center can help you align who you truly are with your faith, family, and social life.

“I welcome all aspects of who you are.

You need a space that can hold these tensions and where someone sees, validates, and explores all aspects of you.

I help you identify any sources of pain that may be keeping you from living life to it’s fullest and help you reconcile all aspects of who you are so you can live in wholeness.”

A Note About My
LGBT Counseling Services

Concerns about the type of counseling I provide for LGBTQ individuals are understandable. Unfortunately, in the past, some faith-based therapists were involved in a harmful practice known as conversion therapy. This approach aimed to suppress or “change” one’s gender or sexual identity to conform to specific denominational or church doctrines.

Let me be clear: I do not practice or support conversion therapy. My goal is not to alter who you are but to affirm and support you. I have no agenda in helping you explore your sexuality; rather, I am committed to assisting you in achieving alignment across all facets of your identity, respecting and embracing your gender, sexual orientation, and your faith values. What you decide of your sexuality is not my concern, rather my goal is to help you live congruently with who you are as a person.

In our counseling sessions, I work with you to explore and understand your core values and beliefs. The objective is to empower you to live a life that authentically reflects who you are and aligns with what you hold dear.
